Kolkata Metro Replaces Steel Third Rail with Aluminium for Energy Efficiency BPRL, IOCL JV secures first full production concession in Abu Dhabi UN Warns of 300% Mineral Demand Spike, Urges Supply Chain Reforms Land conflicts, population density hinder In

Kolkata Metro has successfully replaced the steel third rail with an aluminium counterpart at the Girish Park siding along the Dakshineswar-New Garia corridor. This upgrade aims to reduce energy loss and accelerate train movement. The project, which began Saturday night, has been completed, replacing 200 meters of rail. The complete replacement...

is expected to take two years, with a projected 84% reduction in energy loss, saving Rs one crore per year for each kilometer of track. Bharat PetroResources (BPRL), a subsidiary of Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL), in collaboration with Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), has secured a production concession in Abu Dhabi through their joint venture, Urja Bharat (UBPL). This follows an earlier exploration and production award given to UBPL in 2019, with the exploration phase concluding after an investment of $164 million. The awarded area spans up to 6,162 square kilometers. The UN has released a report predicting that global demand for minerals essential to renewable energy technologies will nearly triple by 2030. The report, prepared by the UN Secretary-General's expert panel on critical energy transition minerals, outlines recommendations and guiding principles for governments, industries, and stakeholders to ensure a just and sustainable energy transition. India’s renewable energy (RE) capacity could theoretically surpass 24,000 GW, however, a recent report by the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) highlights the challenges in achieving even a portion of this potential, particularly for net-zero emissions by 2070. The obstacles stem from issues related to land and water availability, as well as population density.

Kolkata Metro ne Girish Park siding pe Dakshineswar-New Garia corridor pe steel third rail ko aluminium se replace kar diya hai. Is upgrade ka maqsad energy loss ko kam karna aur train ki speed badhana hai. Project, jo ki Saturday raat shuru hua tha, complete ho gaya hai, aur 200 meters...

rail ko replace kiya gaya hai. Poora replacement do saal me hone ki ummeed hai, aur energy loss mein 84% tak ki kami aane ki ummeed hai, isse har kilometer track ke liye saal bhar mein Rs one crore ki bachat hogi. Bharat PetroResources (BPRL), jo ki Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) ki subsidiary hai, ne Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) ke saath milkar Abu Dhabi me apne joint venture, Urja Bharat (UBPL) ke through production concession hasil ki hai. Yeh 2019 mein UBPL ko di gayi exploration and production award ke baad aaya hai, aur exploration phase $164 million ki investment ke baad complete ho gaya hai. Awarded area 6,162 square kilometers tak hai. UN ne report jaari ki hai jisme yeh predict kiya gaya hai ki renewable energy technologies ke liye zaruri minerals ki global demand 2030 tak almost triple ho jayegi. Yeh report UN Secretary-General's expert panel on critical energy transition minerals ne taiyar ki hai, jisme governments, industries, aur stakeholders ke liye recommendations aur guiding principles diye gaye hain, taaki energy transition just and sustainable ho sake. India ki renewable energy (RE) capacity theoretically 24,000 GW se zyada ho sakti hai, lekin Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) ki latest report me yeh challenges highlighted ki gayi hain ki yeh potential ka ek hissa bhi achieve karna mushkil hai, khaas kar ke net-zero emissions 2070 tak. Yeh challenges land aur water availability, aur population density se judi hain.
