He boarded the train from Malda to Bhagalpur without a reservation and was caught by the TTE. While Ranjan insisted that the receipt did not mention CIT and that another person with the same name might exist, railway officials confirmed it was him by matching his signature on the fine receipt. Traveling without a ticket is illegal and a violation of railway rules, and an investigation is underway to take action against Ranjan.
