The bonus, traditionally given before Durga Puja-Dussehra holidays, is expected to amount to a maximum of 17,951 rupees for each eligible employee. This year, the bonus is particularly significant due to the Indian Railways' excellent performance in 2023-2024, where they transported a record 1588 million tonnes of freight and carried approximately 6.7 billion passengers. Additionally, the Cabinet has approved a revised Productivity-Linked Reward (PLR) scheme for approximately 20,704 employees in major port authorities and dock labor boards, amounting to a total of 200 crore rupees, aimed at enhancing productivity and recognizing the efforts of port and dock workers.
