The train was eventually stopped near Mukerian railway station in Hoshiarpur and diverted back to Jalandhar, averting a potential accident. This incident followed a similar mishap on February 25th, where an unmanned freight train traveled 70 kilometers from Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir, to Unchi Bassi, Hoshiarpur, Punjab. This led to the suspension of six railway officials, including the station master, traffic inspector, loco pilots, and pointmen, after investigations were conducted by the Ministry of Railways and Northern Railways.
