Extension of existing trains/Utilization of lie-over rakes beyond MAQ will help in decongesting the terminal to allow more services.
1. 16585/86 SMVB MAQ train can be made to run upto Karwar like its predecessor. Will help a lot of pilgrims as the MAQ MAO intercity has also been discontinued and the erstwhile Verna passenger now officially departs prior to West Coast's arrival.

2. 16159/60 MS MAQ Exp instead of being stabled at MAQ, could be assigned a 4th rake and its rake can be used for a new overnight service to Interior Karnataka (UBL or BAY) or as a Superfast upto Mumbai/Pune reducing the load on Netravati.
3. 16575/76 Gomteshwara Exp could be extended up to Karwar (effectively making it a daily along with 16515) or into Kerala with Loco reversal at MAQ.
4. 12685/86 can be assigned 2 additional rakes and facilitate through RSA another overnight service between MAQ and MAS/TBM via HAS and SMVT.
Above are trains which don't have PM @ MAQ/MAJN, and could easily generate additional patronage in their respective routes and also decongest both stations.
