Very few things have changed since I last visited in Feb.
/blog/post/3081784
-
They could have easily extended the CKBK train till here, long back. People would have benefited a lot.
-
-
...

To compare:
Nelamangala when initially it was opened, was in a similar situation. Incomplete, but still opened to help people.
- A pointsman would get in at BAW and travel till NMGA. There he would uncouple the loco and switch the track manually. Then the loco reversed. Then again on the other end too, he will switch the track and couple the loco.
- For issuing tickets, an agent would just stand on the PF and issue tickets (cardboard type - pre-printed) and would then walk along the length of the train and peer into all the coaches asking people to buy tickets.
- When the entire line was getting ready and was in final stages, then they started laying tiles, re-painting the building and gave a new facade to the building.
- And finally the hand operated points were removed and automatic switching was installed and the signals too were activated.
- Finally a SM took over both the ticket issuing and the operation.
- And they used to operate 2 trains with just the basic PF and the token system. One DEMU (later replaced by Railbus) and one Passenger.
-
-
- Here too the PF exists. They could complete the final ballast packing and install the hand operated lever and start the operations by extending the train.
- The pointsman who now does the switching and loco coupling/uncoupling work at CKBK, can just do it here. He gets in at Ginigera I think.
- A ticket agent can issue the ticket on the PF, just one train that too.
- Later slowly (at their own pace) they can lay tiles, finish FoB, final building works, then "if at all" they decide to operate more trains then, they can replace the hand lever with automatic track switching and then signals can be installed too.
-
Now, if they had done that work, they could have atleast run that train when it was most needed - yesterday and today.
These 2 days there was 'Kannada Sahitya Sammelana (Gangavathi)' and hundreds of people came. They ran many special buses, but all were full with no room for standing too.
These 2 days if they had run this train (currently its regulated till KBL) it would have helped the public immensely. They could have relaxed the regulation for 2 days.

Re# 3674316-1
I travelled in CKBK-UBL Pass 2 weeks back from Gadag to Hubballi. There was manual announcement in English & Hindi only, no Kannada !!! Many passengers didnt know its halt pattern & were confused to catch it or not at Gadag. Cannot they announce about the train in the local language & the halts it has ?? When they have given 1hr 40mins for GDG-UBL, cannot they give halts at all the stations between GDG-UBL as there are no passenger trains at that time in the route.

1. Just now seeing this train and its TT. It needs to give all the halts.
2. That line hardly has any train and for a double line, its pathetic.
3. They will revise TT once it is extended to GGVT. Half an hour for going and coming back with LR is not enough.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
