'Guwahati-Dibrugarh rail tracks to be electrified soon'
JORHAT: The railways tracks on the Guwahati-Dibrugarh route could soon be electrified, Union minister of state for railways Rajen Gohain said on Wednesday.
Addressing a party workers' meeting here, the minister said, "Our department is planning to electrify the railway lines from Guwahati to Dibrugarh soon and have conducted required survey for the said project." He added that concerned railway officials have completed the required survey for implementation of the project and have submitted their reports to the ministry.

In the meeting, Gohain also announced several other initiatives - the introduction of a new train from Dibrugarh to Guwahati, a new railway bridge at Saraighat and construction of some new railway tracks connecting Nagaon, Golaghat, Jorhat and Dibrugarh districts in the state.
