In cases of trains like 17643/4 Circar express and 17651/2 KCG-MS Exp (Total 4 rakes - RSA) and 17209/10 Seshadri Exp and 17235/6 SBC- Nagercoil Exp (Total 4 rakes - RSA), each rake is being offered Primary Maintanence at respective C&W depot once in 4 days after completing the entire cycle.. i.e for example a single rake of 17209/10 goes to primary maintanence at CCT C&W after completing the entire journey from CCT-SBC-NCJ-SBC-CCT i.e approx 3230 and 68 hrs of running approx.
There are many other trains in IR which have back to back RSA with 3- 4 pair of trains and are given maintenance probably once in a week after covering thousands of kms
Whereas

trains like Gautami, godavari, VSKP SC GR, charminar, narspaur and many other ONTs undergo maintanece once in every 2 days that after covering a distance like mere less than 1500 kms and run time of not even 30 hrs.
Isnt it benificial if these ONT are also maintained only after a couple of trips such that those C&W pits will be available for maintanence of other trains and henceofrth introdutcion of new trains ??
Coz I am myself a witness of where new trains arent been started from stations due to lack of slot for maintannece at pitlines being primary reason.
I am just interested in understanding the theory of C & W maintance and its book rules if any.
Thanks in advance.

I found this handbook for C & W supervisors on Slideshare ( Dating from 2011) Pages 24-30 have the maintenance schedules you requested. The tables in pages 29 and 30 describe the maintenance to be carried out at primary and secondary depots based on the total distance covered by the rake before returning to the primary Depot. It's quite informative, please do go through it.

the terminals. At the most, only the External cleaning is done once in a week at the primary base and other usual routines are done regularly at the secondary base or other terminals. For trains with total run length (to and fro) 3500 KM, complete maintenance is done at both terminals and for run length less than 3500km, other than External cleaning and brake system maintenance all other maintenance is done at both ends.
For example, for Seshadri express, interior cleaning and other passenger amenities are to be checked at NCJ and SBC. Brake system is checked before departure at both NCJ and SBC. Only the external cleaning is carried out once in 4 days at CCT. All other checks and maintenance are carried out everyday after it reaches the terminal (NCJ or SBC). Even for Gautami and other daily ONT's maintenance should be done after every trip. At the most, external cleaning can be skipped but not the others.

The reason for posting is some trains like Gautami,Narsapur, Machilipatnam occupy the pit line for an entire period of over 9 hrs on a daily basis. Keeping in mind that such ONT rakes return to their C&W every alternate day, reducing their maintanence time at the pits and using the pits more efficiently will give a window for introduction of new trains.

Oh, I understand your concern. I am also from Kakinada and have wondered on more than one occasion why Gautami occupies 1 pit line for the entire day. From what I've gathered, it usually takes around 5-7hrs for a proper maintenance for one rake. ( That's why Bhavnagar express is usually delayed in the morning when Shirdi Express is delayed the previous night) and Gautami being a high priority ONT and also the only 24 coacher from the depot, extra care is taken. (The same is the case with the other important ONTs in the state. They are all high priority trains and run full through out the year.)
There is still room for a few

more weekly trains from COA with the current facilities and maintenance schedules. I think if any more new trains materialize, then C&W will be definitely forced to work on a more efficient schedule.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
