Located inside the town of Gadag, built during the Kalyana Chalukyas or Western Chalukya time around the 11th/12th Century is the temple of Trikuteshwara , where the Lord Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara are worshipped in linga roopa. The temple was one of the prototype for the later Hoysala style architecture

Inside the same complex is a ruined but a very ornate structure of Saraswati temple built during the same era. The temple has been ransacked and idol destroyed , but the complex is a very interesting place for photographers, architecture and

history buffs. A new temple for Goddess Saraswati has been reconstructed in 1990s.

A step well of the Chalukyan era, in a ruined but still maintains the beauty .

Though this train's last stop is Kolhapur, the same rake will go to Pandharpur as 11052 - SCSMT Kolhapur - Solapur Express with 50 minutes buffer time at Kolhapur. So people can travel from Ballari, Hosapete, Koppal, Gadag, Hubballi, Dharwad, Belagavi to Pandharpur (on daily basis) by this train without need of changing train at Miraj.

Around 4 years back, I was at Gadag railway station on the way from Vasco to Hampi (If I remember right). I found the idly wada early in the morning at Gadag platform very tasty and inexpensive. Is it still available on the platform?
