For a railfan even one such gaffe is unpardonable, but 2 of those in the space of 2 months is probably two too much. The first such was on 19th June when I was travelling with my wife to Bangalore City Station by train from Byapannahalli. We were to go to Udipi by the Karwar Express. At about 6 pm I was to board the Arakkonam Passenger or the Karaikal Passenger, whichever came first. Yes I did board the train which came first but it was the Vijayawada - Bangalore Cantt. Passenger.
Not much damage was done as we switched to the Arakkonam Passenger at Cantt. station when we realized that the Vijayawada train's journey had come to an end there....

And once again early this morning at 5.45 am I got a ticket for Mysore at the Bangalore East Station and on enquiry was informed that the Tuticorin Exp bound for Mysore would arrive shortly.Once again I boarded the first train that chugged in and soon reached platform 1 of Cantt. station. The PA address there stating that Kacheguda - Bangalore Exp was standing on PF 1 had me foxed for a while. I looked around here and there but could not find any other train there except the one I was sitting in. I got down and took a look at the train board and to my dismay found that it was indeed the Kacheguda Exp. And once again I had to deboard at Cantt and wait for the Tuticorin Exp. Guess this is what happens when you board the first train or bus that comes along without bothering to ascertain its destination :)
