Located about a km from Swamimalai station is the Swetha Vinayagar (White Ganesha) Temple at Tiruvalanchuzhi. As per legend, while the Devas and Asuras churned the Milky Ocean, they ignored Lord Ganesha's advice. Poison came before the nectar and to save the world Lord Shiva Drank the poison. to prevent the poison from spreading further, the Devas took the foam from Ocean waves and created a Lord Ganesha and worshipped him. Hence, the Lord is in White colour and a very small structure of the Lord
