This is very unfortunate. Only 2470 passengers travelled against the rated capacity of 80784. i.e.only 3% occupancy. It is clear there is no traffic on the route and even if there was no restriction on the ticket to Jaipur, the % occupancy still would have been been a single digit number. It is not very clear whether this train was a normal train or a suvidha train with exorbitant fares. If later is the case then nothing could be said except "Yeh to Hona Hi Tha"
Many routes in IRlys are crying for additional trains and running this kind of special train paints a very sorry picture.
In...
more... fact the new regular and special trains must strictly be operated based on the study of traffic pattern, sales data of tickets on the route and adequate market research. Private agencies may be roped in for the purpose if required.
On the one hand, MoR is stressing on reforms in accounting systems to ascertain the economic parameters like costing/ revenue, profit/ loss of every railway activity like a train and entity like a station so that railways operations can be steered in the direction of productivity and profitability on the other hand incidences does not auger well for I Rlys.
